Frankenmuth Historical Museum

The Frankenmuth Historical Museum is a seven-gallery museum detailing the history and evolution of the community. From our German heritage to the effects of WWII on our city, there is so much unique history to discover. The Frankenmuth Historical Museum also has an entire Educational Program Guide that offers various educational and hands-on tours through three of Frankenmuth’s historical gems: authentically restored German Wolkensdoerfer Log House, Hart Road One-Room Schoolhouse, and the WWII era Eischer House.

St. Lorenz Lutheran Church

The beauty of the St. Lorenz Lutheran Church will take your breath away. If you be sure to call ahead and ask for a tour guide, you will be transported back in time to the earliest days of Frankenmuth. You will tour a replica of the original church built in 1846, learn about the significance of the Church Bells in the Forest, explore the current Lutheran Church, wonder at the stain-glass windows that depict the entire story of Frankenmuth, the hand-painted mural of Christ on the ceiling, and end the tour at the St. Lorenz Museum.

Michigan Heroes Museum

Michigan Heroes Museum is unique in that it is the only museum devoted to the wartime experiences of men and women from the state of Michigan. With over 140 displays and a collection of over 700 exhibits, the museum hosts stories devoted to Michigan’s Governors, 15 Astronauts and 31 individual Medal of Honor Recipients, making it the nation’s largest Medal of Honor collection on display.

Grandpa Tiny’s Farm

This agricultural and historic landmark-turned-working petting farm is the perfect spot for kids or kids at heart! With tours through multiple barns that were built in 1919, tractor rides through fields, and lots of opportunities to pet and play with baby animals, this is the perfect way to learn about history, agriculture and animals! The farm-hands and tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and friendly; they are happy to help you plan your next visit.

Bavarian Belle Riverboat

The Bavarian Belle Riverboat is a double-deck, handicap accessible paddle-wheel boat. This is a great option for the months of May through October. Not only will your entire group be able to enjoy the scenic boat tour (the Belle seats 150), but they will also get to learn about the history of Frankenmuth through the hour-long narration played over the speakers, enjoy the wildlife among the banks of the Cass River, and they will even travel under the Zehnder’s Covered Bridge, or as it is called in German, the “Holz Brücke” which means wooden bridge. This all-wooden bridge is the only of it’s kind still standing in North America. It has quite the history that you can read here.
